Program description:

 

"What Style is it? - Residential Styles of the Pacific Northwest" is a walking tour of late 19th and early to mid-20th century architectural styles of Astoria and environs presented by architectural historian, Eric Wheeler. This program identifies the vocabulary of key details and styles of the diverse architectural fabric of residential neighborhoods in the region. The presenter has come to believe that "to name it is to know it", and he particularly enjoys presenting and engaging with people in the real estate industry because of a shared interest in how buildings impact peoples lives.

 

Presenter Bio:

 

Eric Wheeler has over twenty-five years of experience as an architectural historian and heritage tourism consultant. He has written numerous National Register nominations, taught graduate level classes in architectural history and designed and led hundreds of architectural/historical walking tours.

Eric moved to the Pacific Northwest several years ago and continues to explore and interpret the captivating built environment of the region. He currently lives in Astoria and is a regular contributor to publications on the North Coast.
